In the winter of 2016, my 18-year-old daughter was supposed to be admitted to a renowned treatment center for eating disorders. Unfortunately, my daughter was critically ill from anorexia and could not even stand due to muscle wasting so she was admitted to a local hospital for 12 days and given a feeding tube. The hospital really was not equipped or well-versed on this disorder but they did their best and needed to discharge my daughter. She still was very underweight. The treatment center still could not admit her because she didn't meet their criteria. They advised us to send our daughter to...
Dr. G has literally saved my life, and not just my physical life. She has nurtured my mind, body, and soul back to health with a love and care that I have never ever seen in the medical field. I remember the first time I sat down and talked with her and as she walked in the door she gave me the biggest hug, knew my name, all about me, and she wanted to know more. We sat, me cross legged on my bed and her on a chair not too far away, and talked about life. She wanted to know me... What I liked to do, the feelings I had... And she had such wisdom and insight. However what stuck out most to me was she listened.
When thinking about Dr. Gaudiani, these words come to mind: kind, compassionate, patient, understanding and supportive. She is genuine and nonjudgmental and radiates love and light. Dr. Gaudiani was key to my medical stabilization and recovery.
I met Dr. Gaudiani in August 2011 when I was admitted to Denver ACUTE to get stabilized from an eating disorder before going to a residential program. Looking back now, 5 years later, the majority of that time period is a blur. There are several parts that aren't a blur and those include my interactions with Dr. Gaudiani. Dr. Gaudiani oversaw my treatment during my 2 week stay at ACUTE and she continued to follow up with me over the years during my recovery.
Your passion and dedication to the recovery of those who struggle with eating disorders is beyond measure! I admire your dedication to your patients in wanting to spend as much time with them as necessary for their individual needs. I can't thank you enough for all that you have done for me and my family.
Dr. G is one of the most caring and compassionate individuals that I have ever met (second only to my own mother). I can still remember my admission day to the ACUTE unit where Dr. G was the primary physician.
Dr. G motivated my initial recovery from Anorexia and Exercise Bulimia. I had been in denial for several years about what a hold my ED had on me. Dr. G was the one who was able to get through to me, and I will be forever grateful for her compassionate support and hopeful enthusiasm.
Dr. Gaudiani has that perfect balance of professionalism and compassion which is needed when treating ED patients. Her knowledge of the medical aspects of eating disorders is far superior to any other physician that we have encountered over the thirteen-year course of our loved-one’s illness.
Diagnosed with anorexia at an early age, I had been shuffled between numerous doctors who had neither the knowledge nor the heart to deal with my serious condition. When I met Dr. G, my illness had progressed to the point of Hospice care discussions.
My wife has been battling an eating disorder for over ten years. She spent time at two different treatment facilities that only provided short term results. They never got to the core of the problem.
Dr. Gaudiani is one of the most incredible humans I have ever encountered—and I don’t say that lightly. She is deeply authentic and extraordinarily compassionate, and during our time together, we had the most real conversations I can ever imagine having.
